Mental Wellbeing

Bringing better Mental Health and Wellbeing to the workplace so to increase engagement and performance.

Mental health costs UK up to £42bn each year and between 60-70 percent of people with common mental health problems are at work.

Our workshops, assessments and coaching provides the tools to promote mental health and wellbeing in your business and increase engagement and performance.

Mental Health Screening

Understanding our own mental health is not only crucial to identifying changing states of mental health but also what impacts our mental health in both a positive and negative way.

The more we understand about ourselves the easier it is to implement coping strategies to help enhance mental health if we are having “a wobble” but also to maintain good mental health in the long term.

That is why MH Screening is important for everyone. We never know when something could happen in our lives which impacts on us negatively so understanding what can help us cope with changing circumstances will always be helpful in the long term.

Annurca’s MH Screening measures three core elements of mental wellbeing. These being stress, anxiety and depression.

The process itself is designed to screen and signpost people, not to diagnose mental health conditions.

Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches people how to understand more about Mental Health and equip them with that right skills to identify signs in other people as well as providing the right support. Support, particularly in the early stages, can have a massive impact for the individual and the organisation.

IDENTIFYING THE CRUCIAL WARNING SIGNS OF MENTAL ILL HEALTH ALSO MAKES GOOD BUSINESS SENSE

MHFA teaches people how to identify, understand and help a person who may be developing a mental health issue. Physical first aid has now become a critical support service within most organisations and MHFA is quickly following suit. Teaching groups of employees how to recognise the crucial warning signs of mental ill health not only helps create a better place to work, it also makes good business sense.

Did you know …?

  • 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health issue in any given year
  • Between 1 in 5 and 1 in 6 working age adults is depressed, anxious or experiencing stress related problems at any one time.
  • The chief medical officer estimates that around 70 million working days are lost every year because of mental ill health costing the UK between £70bn and £100bn.
  • Research by Time to Change found that 49% of respondents would feel uncomfortable talking to their employer about their mental health.
  • In 2014/15 anxiety, depression and stress accounted for 35% of all work related ill health and 43% of all working days lost to ill health. (HSE)

THE AIM SHOULD BE TO MAXIMISE PERFORMANCE THROUGH BETTER ENGAGEMENT AND PROPER SUPPORT.

Simply piling more pressure on employees and expecting higher productivity is often a false economy; increasing only sickness and staff turnover levels.

MHFA training and support materials provide a step by step approach to help organisations to create a healthy environment, introduce awareness-raising initiatives, identify the first signs of mental ill health and support staff who are experiencing an issue.

Resilience Training

Resilience is the capacity to maintain wellbeing and work performance under pressure and being able to bounce back from setbacks effectively. This ability derives from natural traits but can also be taught.

We assist organisations to understand their resilience through delivery of bespoke workshops and by seeking staff feedback on their levels of engagement; how effectively they deal with change; the strength of working relationships; how staff deal with challenges and set-backs etc.

The costs of absence due to stress, anxiety and related mental health difficulties can be particularly high and we seek to provide practical solutions to stress management and reduction along with enabling employees to respond positively to the pressures and demands of modern life and to help them identify opportunities to thrive.

We also focus on managers, supervisors and team leaders, emphasising a ‘best practice’ approach to management coupled with a clear understanding of stress and its causes and effects. It is the basis for good prevention and management of stress and also for building their personal resilience. It will show managers how, in practice, to manage stress and build resilience amongst their team members.

Typical outcomes include:

  • Improved awareness and identification of stress and its effect on individuals.
  • Understanding how to manage and prevent work related and other sources of stress.
  • How to bolster personal resilience and to thereby enhance performance and wellbeing.
  • How to develop a more adaptable approach to change and adverse situations.
  • How to build personal coping skills and reduce the risk of stress reactions.
  • How to identify stress levels amongst teams.
  • How to use Stress Risk Assessment Tools.
  • In practice how to manage employee stress and build resilient teams.
  • How to deal with difficult conversations and situations with staff.
  • How to develop a more adaptable and positive mental approach to change and adverse situations within teams.
